Rough and Refined Series

In my Rough and Refined Series I use diamonds and Tahitian pearls in combination with granite to create a dichotomy of something precious that sparkles or shines with something non-precious with a matt finish. This combination creates something very elegant, yet very casual at the same time.

I use strands of both black and raw black diamonds. The Tahitian pearls I use speak for themselves. The granite is used in several ways: it is sometimes carved into a bead, sometimes used as an inlay, and sometimes left in its natural state as a pebble. On many pieces I set tiny diamonds into the granite to create a sparkle against the matt finish. The sterling on most of the pieces in this series is oxidized, again to create a contrast between finishes. Many pieces also have an 18k gold element for added elegance and contrast.
